Minami-Senju soba shop Sarashina features satisfying combo sets pairing katsudon, tendon, or katsu curry with noodles, serving thin soba in dashi-rich broth within a relaxed setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Opening the menu at Minami-Senju's Sarashina presents an enjoyable dilemma, with an extensive lineup of rice bowls and noodles. Alongside staples like katsudon and tendon, choices span oyakodon, tamagodon, curry donburi, sukiyaki donburi, and kitsune donburi, each ready to pair with soba or udon. Enjoying a deep-fried cutlet coated in sweet-savory broth over rice followed by a slurp of brisk, slender soba fits equally well for an unhurried midday meal or a low-key dinner after work.
Bowls such as curry nanban, champon udon, and piping-hot nabeyaki udon offer deep warmth. For dipping, the meat nanban seiro and curry nanban seiro allow diners to choose between soba and udon. Those seeking a larger meal can opt for the katsu curry set for a comforting Western-Japanese touch, or branch out with distinctive choices like the mujina don.
Spacious table seating throughout the interior provides a comfortable setting for solo meals. Side dishes such as motsuni stewed offal, katsuni simmered pork cutlet, and oden are also available, making it easy to sip a beer or other alcoholic drink before finishing with noodles. Note that payment is cash-only, so it pays to bring currency along.
